Haiti: Latest Statistics by Pan Am Special Report of February 16th: 212,069 Dead, 383 missing, 300,517 injured, 135,919 affected families, 1,237,077 people in shelters, 467,701 displaced people. http://bit.ly/HaHrt2

The rainy season with flood risk is due early April and the hurricane season begins early June

American Airlines is starting commercial passenger flights as of tomorrow, Feb 19. Other operators will resume in March http://bit.ly/HSRFe16

Assessment of the runway raised concerns about long-term effects of heavy, wide-wing planes and an 80 metric ton limit has been placed on incoming aircraft.

Following a peak of 162 flights per day, the number of flights has gradually fallen to some 50 per day over the last days.

2002 UN Study: there were 173,000 restavek children (slave children), more than 8% of the population between the ages of 5 and 17. Expert believes there are more than 300,000 restavek children in Haiti still.
